Eastern Cape - Three men posing as police officers have conned a woman out of cash and a cellphone in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape police on Tuesday.
Captain Mali Govender said the 53-year-old woman was approached by the three men on her way to a bank on Friday.
“The men produced appointment cards before questioning her about an alleged robbery that had taken place,” said Govender.
They asked her to accompany them to a police station, and on the way one of them told her to give him her belongings before she went inside.
“She did as she was told, only to discover that there was no police station and that the so-called 'police officers' had disappeared,” said Govender.
