Fire breaks out at Eastern Cape premier's offices

Port Elizabeth - A fire broke out and staff were evacuated in Bisho on Friday afternoon at the offices of Eastern Cape Premier Phumulo Masualle.

Provincial government Spokesperosn, Sonwabo Mbanang, confirmed that a blaze had gutted a portion of a building adjacent to garage parking spaces.

Mbanang said the fire happened at an administrative block and no injuries were reported.

"There were no injuries and all staff were evacuated. Firefighters remain at the scene," he said.

Mbanang added that authorities were informed and at at this stage the cause of the fire was unknown.

Road access from Bisho to the legislature is also blocked by traffic and emergency services.
