Free State -

Two adults and a baby died when a taxi collided into the back of a truck on the R26 outside of Ladybrand in the Free State on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

“Paramedics declared the front left passenger in the taxi as well as an adult and the baby dead on the scene,” said ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak.

“It is believed that they were flung out of the taxi when it ripped open during the collision.”

Eight other people were injured, although not seriously. They were treated on the scene before being taken to hospital.

The accident happened around 2pm and the cause of the accident was unknown.
