Bloemfontein -

Three people were burnt to death when their car and a truck collided head-on, on the N1, 30 kilometres from Bloemfontein, early Saturday morning, paramedics said.

“Common cause information suggests that an errant party veered from their allocated lane and pushed into oncoming traffic,” said Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks.

The vehicles collided head-on and the car burst into flames.

When paramedics arrived on the scene the car's driver, who sustained serious injuries, had climbed out of his vehicle.

Three people were trapped inside, burnt beyond recognition, and declared dead on the scene.

Wicks said the car and truck drivers were stabilised on the scene and taken to Pelonomi Hospital. - Sapa
