Johannesburg – About 12 people were injured on Tuesday morning after several vehicles collided on the N1 south-bound highway near the New Road off-ramp in Midrand, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said, emergency services had to battle their way through the morning traffic.

“Numerous services, including ER24, arrived on scene and found that several trucks and light motor vehicles had collided, resulting in four lanes of the highway blocked,” he said.

Meiring said approximately 12 patients were treated on scene for different injuries.

“Once treated, they were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.”

Authorities were on scene to investigate the cause of the collision, Meiring said.
