Johannesburg - Three people died and 22 others were injured when a taxi overturned on the N12 near Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, paramedics said on Friday.

Witnesses said the taxi driver apparently lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst on Thursday night, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

Two woman and a man were killed and two people were critically injured.

The injured where treated on scene before being taken to hospital.

“The exact cause of the collision is not yet known and local authorities were on scene to begin their investigations,” Meiring said. - Sapa
