Johannesburg -

A female Johannesburg metro police officer and her boyfriend were found dead at their house in Meadowlands, Soweto, a JMPD spokesman said.

Mapule Maleho failed to report for duty on Friday and that prompted her colleagues to look for her.

“Fellow officers arrived at her house in Extension 9 Meadowlands (Soweto) and found her boyfriend dead on the kitchen floor with the officer's service pistol next to him,” spokesman Wayne Minnaar said.

While searching the house, Maleho's body was found in the bedroom with a gun shot wound to the head.

Minnaar said an inquest docket had been opened to establish how the officer and the boyfriend had died. - Sapa
