One woman died and 19 other people, including 18 schoolchildren, were injured when a school bus crashed into a house in Krugersdorp on Saturday, Gauteng paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said the driver lost control of the vehicle.

“One female has lost her life in the accident and another person was critically injured and flown to a nearby hospital,” she said.

“The remainder of the injured sustained minor to serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for the medical treatment that they required.”

Steinmann said fire-fighters were using the Jaws-of-Life to free the injured bus driver. - Sapa
