Pretoria - The SA National Defence Force on Tuesday declined to comment on rumours on a social network that charges have been dropped against Lt-Col Christine Anderson.

Around 11am, the national secretary of the SA National Defence Union Pikkie Greeff tweeted: "Well well well. we have an Anderson bomb to drop. Watch out for the @SANDU_LIVE media release within the hour. #Guptagate."

About an hour and a half later, parliamentary correspondent for Media24 Charl du Plessis said he understood that the SANDF had dropped charges against Anderson.

"So I see the defence force has withdrawn all #GuptaGate charges against Lt Col Christine Anderson," he tweeted.

However, SANDF declined to comment.

"I will comment once there is official information that has come to me. I don't comment on things from Twitter," said spokesman Simphiwe Dlamini.

Anderson was allegedly involved in the landing of a private jet carrying guests to a wedding for wealthy business family the Guptas, at the Waterkloof Air Force base in Tshwane.
