Johannesburg – The University of Johannesburg (UJ) on Wednesday said it had completed more than 25% of all registrations by new and returning students for the 2017 academic year – just 10 days since the process started.

"The numbers are a very clear indication that the University’s community wants the academic year to get underway, on time, and without disruptions," said Prof Kinta Burger, the Registrar at UJ.

"The numbers also confirm that the online-only registration system is working smoothly, and has been embraced by UJ’s students."

Burger added:"By early morning on Wednesday we had registered over 13 000 which is close to one quarter of our entire student body and in line with the pace of registration in previous years".

The university said its online registration system, chat facility and its call centre that deals with personal enquiries, which gives guidance to students were making the process efficient.

The call centre handled more than 85 000 calls and the UJ Mobisite dealt with 89 818 queries and closed last week Friday. Registration can be accessed 24/7 online.

Anyone needing assistance is also welcome to call the UJ Call Centre on 011 559 4555.
