Pretoria – Workers whose jobs have been "outsourced" by the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) said they they will continue their strike action on Monday.

The striking workers, who downed tools on Wednesday, are also demanding that salary hikes to so that they earn at least R5 000.

In a statement the workers who include security, cleaning and catering workers said: "The picket line will continue at main campus".

Talks with management on May 26 did not produce an agreement that could allow workers to return to work.

Workers said they have sent a draft written agreement to management as a way to take forward discussions and are asking for an urgent meeting before the end of today.

Management could not be immediately reached for comment.
