Pretoria – The community of Olievenhoutbosch took to the R55 road pleading for immediate intervention against corruption regarding the RDP houses allocation.

Residents chanted "enough is enough" as they blockaded the busy road as early as 6am with burning tyres and rocks.

Two councillors in the area were accused of denying the community job opportunities and giving out RDP houses to people not on the beneficiaries list.

Secretary general of the SACP in the area Joseph Bapela said despite trying to address the issue of corruption and lack of service delivery in the area, they were being ignored.

"The more we talk about this the more they conduct their dealings without fear of the law.

"They've divided the community into two groups and only one group benefits from RDP houses," he said.

Bapela said they were calling on Gauteng Housing and Human Settlements MEC Paul Mashatile to intervene immediately.
