The controversial Gupta clan could be trying to avert another backlash as it makes plans in Turkey for the latest nuptials in the family.
It has been confirmed Kamal Gupta is to be married at the Mardan Palace hotel in Antalya, Turkey.
A hotel staff member said the “Indian wedding” was to take place “for many days”.
The hotel had been booked for April 23 to April 26.
“They wish it like this. We always have weddings at the hotel.”
There was no response to enquiries from a spokesperson for the Gupta family.
Kamal is the son of Ajay Gupta, one of the three brothers who run multiple businesses in South Africa and who are alleged to have benefited financially from the family’s close links with President Jacob Zuma and other government officials.
A Gupta wedding in May 2013 sparked a furore when it emerged a chartered aircraft carrying 200 guests had landed without authorisation at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria.
Unconfirmed allegations were that Zuma had given the go-ahead for this.
The guests travelled to Sun City for the wedding of Vega Gupta to Aakash Jahajgarhia.
Vega's mother, Achla, is the only sister of the Gupta brothers, Ajay, Atul and Rajesh.
Zuma did not attend Vega's wedding.
Presidential spokesman Bongani Majola has told the media that Zuma will not be going to Kamal's wedding.
However, Zuma is travelling with other government officials to nearby Iran next week.
If Vega's multimillion rand Gupta wedding is anything to go by, Kamal's celebrations could feature entertainment by Bollywood singers and actors and extravagant festivities, as well as traditional ceremonies.
