Johannesburg - Sixty-five people were injured when the bus they were travelling in overturned on a dirt road near Nongoma on Friday morning, KwaZulu-Natal emergency management services (EMS) said.
“The bus had 65 people on board at the time and they all sustained serious injuries,” spokesman Robert McKenzie said in a statement.
The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.
The EMS dispatched six ambulances, two advanced life support paramedics and a patient transport bus to assist the injured.
Other emergency workers and paramedics from private ambulance companies also responded to the accident scene.
“Together they worked in the blazing sun to treat and stabilise the 65 patients before transporting them to Benedictine Hospital for further care,” McKenzie said. - Sapa
