Port Edward - An eight-year-old boy was seriously hurt when he bashed his head on rocks at Silver Beach, in Port Edward, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said on Monday.

He was in a serious, but stable condition in hospital following the incident on Sunday afternoon, said NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon.

A 23-year-old Pretoria North man was also seriously injured there on Sunday when his leg was crushed by a boat, said Lambinon. He too was in a serious, but stable condition in hospital.

Lambinon said rescue workers also had to help a 34-year-old man after a fishing hook penetrated his hand, and two men whose jet ski sank at Silver Beach on Sunday. - Sapa
