A police reservist crashed the vehicle he was driving into the wall of the casuality section of Prince Mshiyeni Hospital on Thursday night, KwaZulu-Natal police said Friday.
“It happened last night while the other police men were bringing in a patient into the casuality ward,” said hospital spokeswoman Nonkululeko Ngcobo.
“A police man who was seated on the left in the van might have caused the vehicle to loss control and reverse into the casuality building. We do not know the extent of the damage at this stage but a wall and windows were damaged.”
The matter is being investigated with the police, said Ngcobo.
“The four members were on duty at Umlazi. Three reservists and a student constable one was injured and taken to hospital,” said Colonel Jay Naicker.
Naicker said the driver and injured policeman were in casuality ward and two police reservist in the car.
“The next thing he heard a loud bang. He found the reservist in the driver’s seat. The reservist allegedly went into a wall.”
A case of negligence and using a police vehicle without consent will be opened. - Sapa
