There is a dispute over which of veteran politician Amichand Rajbansi's four wills is valid, according to a report on Sunday.

Rajbansi's family was battling over his estate which was believed to be worth R60 million, City Press reported.

His wife Shameen Thakur-Rajbansi wanted his final will, which was written in July 2010, validated.

According to the report some of his children and trustees of the Amichand Rajbansi Trust wanted another will written earlier that year to be validated.

One of Rajbansi's wills outlined a network of petrol stations owned by various companies and trusts under his name.

The will also listed several properties in Durban, one of which he left to his former wife Asha Devi Rajbansi. Asha would also receive a car, a monthly salary, medical aid and other benefits.

According to City Press, there were concerns that Rajbansi may have abused a policy introduced by the eThekwini Municipality after 1996 to compensate traders displaced under apartheid.

Democratic Alliance eThekwini leader Tex Collins also claimed that Rajbansi had not fully disclosed his interests to Parliament and said the DA would call for a probe into his deals. - Sapa
