DUT to register qualifying studentsComment on this story
Durban - The Durban University of Technology (DUT) on Friday said it would register all students who had qualified for admission and were accepted by the institution.
“They will be processed as soon as the university is ready to recommence with the registration programme,” said DUT spokeswoman Noxolo Memela.
The institution was disrupted earlier this week, with the Students Representative Council demanding that students whose fees had not been paid by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) be allowed to re-register despite the non-payment.
The university said it had no control over NSFAS.
Lectures were suspended on Tuesday and students vacated their residences on Thursday.
Memela said they would be contacting the qualifying first year students telephonically to advise them of their registration arrangements.
“We also request that all returning students, who still need to register, must monitor their DUT4life e-mail accounts for updates from the university,” said Memela.
Students and staff would be informed next week when the campus would be re-opened and when classes would resume.
