Durban - The management of Hlabisa Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal has been removed and a probe into malpractice launched, the provincial health department said on Wednesday.

“KZN health MEC, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo has removed the entire management of Hlabisa Hospital in the far north of KwaZulu-Natal and replaced them with a new task team,” spokesman Desmond Motha said in a statement.

The team would run the hospital during a probe into the management's alleged malpractice.

While nobody had been fired yet, senior managers had to report to the department's district office while the investigation was taking place.

The move followed complaints about service delivery at the hospital.
