Winterton, KwaZulu-Natal -

A man was killed on Friday afternoon when his microlight crashed near Winterton in KwaZulu-Natal, police said.

Police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said an inquest into the man's death had been opened.

The crash took place the Champagne Sports Resort, in the Champagne Valley of the Central Drakensberg, shortly before 3pm.

Naicker said further details were not immediately available. - Sapa
