Durban - Pietermaritzburg police closed in on a second suspect linked to the spray-paint attack on a mechanic and arrested a 25-year-old man on Monday.

The man had allegedly been on the run since Wednesday after the bizarre incident.

Police had searched his home and places he frequented, but had been unable to find him.

According to police, the suspect was arrested when he arrived at his workplace on Monday.

He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

His co-accused, Avikar Lutchman, 27, appeared in court on Friday and was remanded in custody until January 22 for a bail application.

It is alleged the men assaulted Violet Road, Northdale, mechanic, Malawian Asan Bilaz, on January 7 and spray-painted his face and body with white enamel car paint.
