Durban - A Sherwood resident allegedly kidnapped outside his home three weeks ago is still missing.

Mehboob Valimamade, 54, who has dual South African-Mozambican citizenship, was returning from a mosque when he was abducted by a group of men who came on to his property.

He opened the gate and was getting out of his vehicle when they overpowered him, pushed him on to the back seat of a VW and sped off. His car was abandoned at his home.

It is believed a brazen gang who kidnapped and held for ransom several millionaire businessmen in Maputo, Mozambique, are behind the kidnapping.

Though the gang kidnap is suspected, the police are investigating other possible motives for the crime. His family did not want to comment.

Anyone who has information on his whereabouts should contact Detective Sergeant TC Mthethwa at 031 203 7388 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
