Durban - A man died and two other people were injured when a taxi and bakkie collided in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday, paramedics said.

The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the driver of the taxi, who was trapped inside the vehicle, said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.

The man, who was in his twenties, was confirmed dead at the scene.

The two people who were travelling in the bakkie sustained moderate injuries in the accident on Hammersdale road.

“They were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” said Meiring.
