A teenager died after being hit by a truck while cycling in Camperdown, 50km outside Durban on Sunday, paramedics said.
ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said the 14-year-old boy was cycling in an event with his mother when he lost his balance and fell off his bicycle.
The truck, which was travelling in the same direction, drove over him.
“Paramedics were called to the scene, but there was nothing we could do, he had sustained massive head injuries,” said Banks. - Sapa
