Durban - Two 3-year-old twins were critically injured in a fire in Durban North on Monday morning.

Spokesperson for Marshall Security Kyle van Reenen said the children – a boy and a girl – were severely burnt in a house fire on the corner of Swapo (Broadway) and Hoylake Roads on Monday morning.

Various emergency services were at the scene, he said, and advanced life support paramedics stabilised the twins before transporting them to a local hospital for further care.

A domestic worker, who was also home at the time of the fire, was treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is at this stage unknown.
