Johannesburg – Two people died when two cars collided head-on on Tuesday, on the N17 outside of Kinross in Mpumalanga, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said that when paramedics arrived on the scene, they found a bakkie on one side of the road while a light motor vehicle was found on the opposite side.

"Both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision. Upon inspection, paramedics found that both drivers, both men, had sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Nothing could be done for either driver and they were declared dead on the scene," he said.

"Traffic was heavily affected in the area due to the collision." The cause of the accident was not known and would be investigated, he said.
