Johannesburg - Disciplinary proceedings against SA National Parks' (SANParks) senior general manager of fundraising, Bryn Pyne James, are almost complete, SANParks said on Wednesday.

“Due process has been followed throughout this case and the board remains vigilant in exercising our fiduciary duties to ensure that the highest standards of governance are maintained in SANParks,” chairman of the SANParks board Kuseni Dlamini said in a statement.

Pyne James was appointed on February 1, 2011, and his contract provided for a commission, over and above a basic salary, for commercial sponsorships raised by him and paid in cash to SANParks.

Between his appointment and April this year, 12 such payments totalling R1.9 million were made to Pyne James.

SANParks' board decided to investigate the payments and related issues after queries about the regularity of the incentive payments.

As a result of the probe, the disciplinary processes against him were instituted and he was suspended from October 27.

Dlamini said the board looked forward to the speedy resolution of the matter.
