Democratic Alliance MP Masizole Mnqasela has been charged with various counts of misconduct by the party's federal legal commission, SABC news reported on Tuesday.

Mnqasela confirmed to the broadcaster that he had been phoned by the chairperson of the party's legal body that dealt with disciplinary matters, informing him that charges had been formulated against him.

He told the broadcaster he had received the charge sheet, including a list of witnesses, but refused to disclose what he had been charged with.

“I am not at liberty to disclose that. The people who charged me must tell you. I will announce once I've consulted with my legal team.”

Mnqasela recently made headlines when he questioned DA leader Helen Zille's decision to support Lindiwe Mazibuko as parliamentary leader to replace Athol Trollip. - Sapa
