Five South Africans, including a paramedic and a patient, died when their aircraft, enroute from Namibia to Cape Town, crashed in Plattekloof early on Sunday morning.

Western Cape Provincial Government health spokesperson Robert Daniels said the pilot, co-pilot, paramedic, patient and the patient’s daughter died when the Namibian Air mercy services plane crashed.

“Radio contact was lost at 6.14am and the aircraft was en-route to Cape Town International Airport from where the patient would be transferred to Panorama Hospital,” Daniels said.
