Luister is a documentary, which follows 32 students of colour and one lecturer from the University of Stellenbosch's agricultural college, Elsenburg, who feel they have been sidelined at the institution on the basis of skin colour.

The students talk about the use of Afrikaans as a medium of teaching at the university and their difficulty in adapting to Afrikaans culture.

They also recount racist incidents they have experienced at the university and in the predominently Afrikaans speaking and ultra-conservative town of Stellenbosch.
