Cape Town - The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is investigating a Seventh-Day Adventist pastor who allegedly refused to marry a white woman and coloured man, the Sunday Times reported.

The father of the bride lodged the complaint after the pastor allegedly told the couple it was not good for people of different races to marry.

However, the pastor, who is based on the Cape's West Coast, reportedly told the Sunday Times he had counselled the couple, but he could not marry them because he was not a registered marriage officer.

SAHRC spokesman Isaac Mangena reportedly confirmed to the newspaper that an investigation was taking place.

The couple had since been married by a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church, it reported. - Sapa
