Imagine finding millions of rands in your bank account?

Well that is what happened to this unsuspecting woman.

Stephanie Duffy, 22, expected to find nothing more than R20 in her account – instead her balance read R42 million!

She says she has no idea how R42 949 566.67 got into her dormant Postbank account.

“I don’t use the account so I didn’t expect it to have any money in it,” she says.

“I thought I would just have a look and see if there is at least a R20 in the account so I could buy a chocolate or something.

“But when I did a balance check, I couldn’t believe what I saw. It showed that there was R42 million in my bank account.”

The Observatory woman showed the Daily Voice all the statements she drew on Tuesday when she first made the discovery.

“I did a balance enquiry, then the amount reflected. Then I went back a second time and it showed that there was only R106.29, but then I checked a third time and the same amount [R42 million] was back,” she says.

“I’m scared that someone could come after me and want to kill me for money which I don’t have.”

It’s not the first time a large sum of money was transferred into this account, says Stephanie.

Last year R30 million was transferred into it but the banks claimed it is merely an error.
