Johannesburg – One man had died while four others were injured on Monday morning when their vehicle rolled off the N1 highway, just outside Worcester in the Western Cape.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said in a statement that when paramedics along with Breede Vally Fire Services arrived on the scene, they found the vehicle lying on its roof some distance away from the road.

Paramedics found one man lying trapped inside the vehicle. "Paramedics assessed the man trapped inside the vehicle and found that he had sustained numerous, fatal injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene,"said Meiring.

Two other men were found lying around 10 metres away from the vehicle, while two others were found walking around on the scene.

"The four other patients found on scene were assessed by paramedics and one man had sustained critical injuries while the three others had sustained minor to moderate injuries."

Meiring said paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Police were on scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
