Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday extended his condolences to the families of 13 people killed when two planes crashed near Tzaneen.

“We are moved by pain of the families as they waited anxiously for the news of the missing aircraft,” Zuma said in a statement.

He praised the rescue efforts that led to the missing planes and the victims being found.

The bodies of all 13 occupants on the two Albatross aircraft were found at Mamoswiri Peak north-east of Tzaneen, Limpopo, on Tuesday.

The aircraft took off from Tzaneen Airport on Sunday at 10.30am, bound for Rand Airport in Johannesburg, after participating in the Tzaneen airshow. They were reported missing at 1.30pm the same day. - Sapa
