Johannesburg - The ANC's call for unity was called into question as delegates from different provinces sang pro and anti-Zuma songs ahead of the president's address at the National Policy Conference (NPC) in Joburg on Friday morning.
President Jacob Zuma is set to open the NPC.
However, before he had even taken his seat, delegates from the Eastern Cape, who made rolling substitution signs, met with Kwazulu-Natal delegates, who were singing "uZuma wenzeni?" (What wrong has Zuma done?)
This calls into question the call made by the party's secretary-general Gwede Mantashe that the ANC should come out of the NPC united.
The gathering, which starts on Friday and ends on July 5, is set to discuss and review the party's policies that will be rubber stamped at its National Elective Conference in December.
