Cape Town - The EFF has boycotted the appearance of President Jacob Zuma in the National Assembly to answer oral questions.

The EFF has given Zuma a rough time in the National Assembly in the past leading to disruptions, where the party has been ejected.

Julius Malema’s party has been thrown out of Parliament several times since they arrived in Parliament in 2014 for disrupting Zuma.

It is Zuma’s last appearance in the House on Wednesday where he will field questions from MPs.

During the start of proceedings Speaker Baleka Mbete appealed to the remaining parties in the Chamber to respect the rules of Parliament.

She said it was Zuma’s constitutional obligation to answer oral questions, and no one had a right to deny him this duty.

She said all parties have to abide by the rules of the National Assembly, and if parties feel aggrieved about certain things in the House they can appeal to the Rules Committee.

The rules committee has decided to take up complaints by opposition parties in the manner Mbete has presided over proceedings.

Mbete said the opposition parties will now have to use the rules committee to raise their concerns.

ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu said they have full confidence in Mbete in the running of the business of Parliament.
