Johannesburg - The Independent Electoral Commission and the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) were asked to investigate claims by the FF Plus on Wednesday that the EFF made inflammatory comments and incited violence against whites.

Freedom Front Plus leader Pieter Mulder said in a statement that the party was asking the two commissions to investigate the Economic Freedom Fighters because his party believed some of their messages were unconstitutional.

EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi dismissed the FFPlus's complaint as a reaction against a political rival.

“They are unable to swallow the pill that we are a legitimate political party and we are here to stay.

“They also seem to be out of touch and irrelevant to people's everyday thinking and want us to mind them, to be in conversation with them because they realise that is the only way they can stay relevant.”

Mulder claimed that “inflammatory EFF banners and comments on the EFF's Facebook page are continually doing the rounds in the social media and create a climate for violence”.

Some banners displayed at EFF gatherings, in EFF colours, included: “A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate” and “Honeymoon is over for white people in South Africa”.

Mulder claimed that read together “the conclusion is quite clear that the messages are aimed against white people in South Africa”.

He said such messages could not be tolerated any longer, and so the FFPlus had approached the IEC and SAHRC.

Ndlozi said the EFF had categorically stated that the messages mentioned were on not official EFF banners, and that the party had distanced itself from them.

“FF Plus is drowning, no one knows what they stand for, they have no plan, they have nothing to give to South Africans, including white right wing extremists they claim to speak for, except feeding them with the false fear that blacks want to throw them to the sea.”
