EFF supporters await tardy MalemaComment on this story
Johannesburg - Economic Freedom Fighters supporters took to the streets chanting and dancing as they waited for their leader Julius Malema to address them in Kliptown, Soweto on Sunday.
The crowd of about 300 had been waiting since 10am. “When is he coming, we've been waiting in the sun, we're even getting dark,” a man who gave only his first name Tshepo said.
The 26-year-old said he had lived in Kliptown all his life and was looking forward to hearing what Malema had to say.
He hoped Malema would make some changes in Kliptown once he came into power.
He was unemployed, but was not sure whether Malema would bring jobs for the youth in the area. The area was deeply plagued by drugs.
Residents set up camp chairs in their yards and put up umbrellas to watch the activity in the streets.
Others were entertained by local artists on the stage.
The crowd, dressed in red, was also waiting for its Gauteng premier candidate advocate Dali Mpofu.
