Parliament – Deputy Minister in the Presidency Buti Manamela used props, including a toy gun, to mock MPs in opposition benches as he concluded the debate on the presidency budget in Parliament on Wednesday night.

Brandishing a toy water gun, Manamela poked fun at an absent Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema over his recent comments that his party was prepared to overthrow the current government “through the barrel of a gun”.

“If he can operate this then we will know he can actually overthrow the government of the ANC at Seshego…,” Manamela said as he held up the water gun.

“People who have never seen war will never ever threaten us.”

Manamela also had a gift for Democratic Alliance MPs – blue fabric – which he said they had used to cover stadium chairs to hide the fact that the stadium they used for their election manifesto launch in Johannesburg was not as full as they had predicted it to be.
