Parliament - A tight security net has been thrown around Parliament on Thursday ahead of President Jacob Zuma's 10th State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Many roads around Parliament have been blocked by traffic officers, with pedestrians only allowed limited access around the precinct. On virtually every corner a group of police officers can be seen watching their surroundings with an eagle eye.

Inside the precinct the red carpet has already been laid out from the Parliament Street gates right through to the steps of the National Assembly (NA) building.

This is where Zuma will lead a procession, which would include members of the judiciary and premiers of the nine provinces, before he addresses a joint sitting of the NA and the National Council of Provinces.
