Cape Town – Two suspects have been arrested after they were found with dagga worth R2.4 million in Mfuleni, near Cape Town.
According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, Mfuleni police were on Friday patrolling in Greenpark, Mfuleni, at about 01:15am when they saw near an open field a gathering of several vehicles and a crowd of people.
"When police approached the crowd, people started getting into cars and some ran in different directions. Sixty four large bags containing approximately 1 600 kg of dagga were found and two people were arrested. The street value of the dagga seized is estimated at R2.4 million," Rwexana said.
The two suspects, aged 34 and 46, were due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate's Court on Friday on charges relating to dealing in drugs.
