Dusseldorf - An unexploded World War II bomb was defused in

Dusseldorf on Thursday after 8 000 people were evacuated as a

precaution.

The bomb was discovered by construction workers in the western German

city on Wednesday.

Such war relics are frequently uncovered across Germany, sometimes

leading to entire towns being forced to briefly empty out.
