Lodon/New york - Black Friday shoppers in the US and UK appear to have largely stayed away from the madness in stores this year and instead opted to venture online for the best post-Thanksgiving deals.

The opening of stores on Thursday night appeared to invite chaos and trouble early on, with several shootings reported in mall parking lots, while a number of videos capturing tense shopping scenes also emerged.

A man was fatally shot and his brother was wounded in a shooting outside a Macy’s department store in New Jersey on Friday morning while another was shot dead in an apparent road rage incident in a Walmart parking lot in Nevada on Thursday.

A fourth person suffered a gunshot wound on Thursday at a mall in Tennessee as shoppers were taking part in early Black Friday sales.

Amid the Black Friday madness, cellphone footage from various stores showed shoppers fighting over items in a bid to score shopping deals. Video footage apparently recorded inside a Walmart in Bainbridge, Georgia, showed shoppers fighting over towels during the Black Friday rush on Thursday.

Meanwhile, shoppers at a Walmart in Houston started an all-out melee on Friday.

In New Jersey, a shooting outside a Macy’s department store that left one man dead occurred around 1am on Friday at the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing as people lined up outside for deals.

A 20-year-old Atlantic City man was shot a number of times and pronounced dead at the scene, while his 26-year-old brother was shot in the leg.

In Tennessee, a man suffered a gunshot wound after shots were fired at Wolfchase Galleria Mall in Memphis on Thursday.
