This is the first picture of the man who killed four people in a city centre gun and grenade attack before taking his own life.

It emerged on Wednesday that Nordine Amrani had also murdered a cleaning lady and left her body in a shed where he grew cannabis before going on the rampage in Liege, Belgium.

The 32-year-old hurled grenades and sprayed bullets into crowds of Christmas shoppers and children in a busy square, injuring 125. He then shot himself in the head with a revolver.

A police source said: “Amrani killed a 45-year-old woman in his flat before dumping her body in a lock-up shed where he cultivated cannabis plants.”

“The woman had been working in a neighbour’s home. It appears that Amrani had invited her into his own flat to discuss the possibility of cleaning his flat. There were signs of a struggle.”

Amrani left a package containing money for his live-in girlfriend, together with a note reading: “Good luck! I love you.”

The woman, who is believed to be a nurse at a care home, was said to be at a secret location on Wednesday. Police said the killer was a convicted sex attacker and drug dealer, who had last been released from prison in October last year after serving time for possessing an arsenal of weapons and 2 800 cannabis plants.

Amrani had been due to be questioned by police over a new sex crime and feared being sent back to prison, said his lawyer. - Daily Mail
