London - Prince Harry will become the first member of the Royal Family to meet President Trump or his wife Melania when the First Lady attends his Invictus Games in Canada this autumn.

Following the postponement of Donald Trump’s UK state visit until next year, the Queen’s grandson will meet Mrs Trump at the sporting event in September.

The White House announced on Thursday that the president’s wife will lead the 90-strong US delegation attending the Games for injured serving and former military personnel in Toronto. More than 550 competitors from 17 nations will take part in 12 adapted sports.

In a statement the First Lady said: ‘I am honoured by the opportunity to represent our country at this year’s Games.’

Harry’s schedule has not been finalised but it is almost certain he will be introduced to Mrs Trump. Kensington Palace declined to comment.
