Japan’s volcanic Mount Aso has erupted

Tokyo - Mount Aso, a volcano on Japan's main southern island of Kyushu, erupted at around 1: 46 a.m. local time, Japan's Meteorological Agency said Saturday.

The agency issued a level-3 alert on a scale of 5 for Aso, restricting entry around the Mount within two kilometres range.

No injury or property damage has been reported yet. Mount Aso, which stands in Kumamoto Prefecture, is the largest active volcano in Japan and is also among the largest in the world.
