Los Angeles - A man wearing a Zorro costume was detained during a false alarm at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday, law enforcement sources told local media.
It was not clear whether the person was connected to the scare at the airport in any way, NBC News reported.
Zorro is a fictional masked character made famous in novels and films.
Late on Sunday police responded to multiple 911 calls from several locations at the airport about a shooting at a terminal, which later proved to be a false alarm.
Police searched the airport, but said they had "not found any evidence of an armed suspect, a shooting or anyone who was injured," law enforcement sources told NBC News.
Police said the shooting incident was proven to have been just loud noises, NBC reported.
By 11 pm, all terminals had re-opened and passengers were proceeding through security, NBC said.
One passenger had earlier tweeted that the airport was "in lockdown," while others were evacuated onto the tarmac.
Earlier this month, a terminal at New York's JFK airport was evacuated after reports of shots being fired, which later turned to be false.
