Australian investigators are examining material that washed up on a west-coast beach, to determine whether it is linked to missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, news reports said.

Police were alerted after the material came ashore 10km east of the town of Augusta, said national broadcaster ABC.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is examining photographs of the objects and has passed copies on to the Malaysian investigation team.
