Berlin – A package containing explosives that could have resulted in serious injuries was found on Wednesday at the German Finance Ministry in Berlin, police said.
Specialists are now investigating the package, which was discovered at the ministry's post office, resulting in the area around the office being cleared.
The packet contained a mixture of material used for fireworks, which could have caused serious injury when opened, police said.
Both the ministry and police declined to say whether the package was addressed to Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble. However, daily newspaper Bild reported that Schaeuble was the target of the parcel.
