Ascheberg, Germany - Vandals who urinated in the font containing holy water of a Catholic church in Germany are the subject of a police search, officials confirmed in the western Germany town of Ascheberg on Thursday.
The person or persons also damaged the church's organ pipes, several statues of apostles and a censer. Damages were tallied at several thousand euros.
“This was truly vandalism,” said church secretary Marlies Stratmann, confirming media reports.
The church filed a complaint with the authorities on Tuesday. Police said they suspected youths in the area. - Sapa-dpa
